Use it for
- Reading a contract you received
- A working draft for your lawyer or translator
- Due diligence and internal review
Not for
Anything a court, agency or immigration office will receive. That needs a certified translation.
Two questions
Can software translate this legal document?
Legal document translation splits into two jobs: understanding a document, and filing one. Answer these before you pay anyone.
Will a court, government agency or immigration office receive the translation?
Order a certified translation for what you file
Translate it here first to read it, and to pick the pages that need certifying.
Will someone sign it or rely on it?
Translate here, then a lawyer checks it
Have a bilingual lawyer check the final wording before anyone signs.

Research, due diligence and correspondence. You know what it says in minutes.
The cost
Certify only what you file
Certified translation is priced by the page, and agencies count a page as 250 words or less. Certify a 30-page contract and you pay for every page, even when the court needs three.
- 1Upload the whole contract and read every clause tonight.
- 2Mark the pages you will actually file or rely on.
- 3Send only those pages to a certified translator.
You see the exact price after upload, before you pay. A long agreement with exhibits still goes in one upload.
What it costs
A 30-page supply contractabout 7,500 words, and a court needs 3 of its pages
… to translate the whole contract here, plus $74.85 to certify the 3 pages you file.
Certified rate: $24.95 a page of up to 250 words, as advertised online in October 2026. A certified translator works from your original, not from this translation. Our price is today's guest rate with layout preservation and the per-document fee.
Real output, unedited
What a translated contract looks like
We wrote a short mutual NDA in English, translated it into Spanish here, and changed nothing in the output. These are the four things a contract translation has to get right.
1234Show the English original

- 1Defined terms switch to Spanish quote marks and keep one translation every time: «Destinatario», «Divulgador», «Propósito».
- 2Clause numbers and headings stay in order: 1. Definiciones, 2.2, 3. Vigencia.
- 3Numbers written twice stay twice: cinco (5) días hábiles, dos (2) años.
- 4Party names stay exactly as written, and the signature lines keep their place: Por, Nombre, Cargo, Fecha.
It works the same on a digital PDF, a Word file you keep editing, or a scanned contract.

Before you upload a client's document
If you are a lawyer, the American Bar Association's Formal Opinion 512 (July 29, 2024) applies. It asks you to understand how an AI tool uses client information. It also says you need the client's informed consent before you enter client information into a self-learning AI tool, and that boilerplate consent in an engagement letter is not enough.
Check your own jurisdiction's rules and your firm's policy too. Then ask us anything the facts on the right don't answer.
A simple habit
If the names don't matter to your reading, translate a redacted copy. You still learn what every clause says.
What we can tell you

Legal document translation questions
Is this a certified legal translation?
No. It is an AI translation for reading, review and drafting. Courts, government agencies and immigration offices usually ask for a certified human translation, so order one for anything you file.
Will a court accept this translation?
Usually not on its own. Courts tend to require a translator's certification or sworn statement. Use this translation to understand the document and to choose which pages to certify, and check the rules of the court you file with.
Can I translate a contract I received in Spanish into English?
Yes. Contract translation works in any direction across 70 languages. Upload the contract, choose English, and see the exact price before you pay.
Does it keep clause numbers and formatting?
Yes. Clause numbers, headings, defined terms and signature lines stay in place in the translated file. Check the layout anyway: in our sample, two clauses came back in smaller type.
Can I edit the translated contract?
Upload a Word file and you get an editable Word file back, so your lawyer can mark it up. A PDF comes back as a translated PDF.
Can I translate a scanned contract?
Yes, if it is written in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese or Spanish. Clear, straight scans work best. Scans in other languages are not read reliably.
How much does it cost to translate legal documents?
You pay per 1,000 words and see the exact price after upload, before you pay. No account is needed for a quote, and a verified free account includes 3,000 words to test a few pages.
