The Waste Land, as a Spanish ebook

  • Line breaks of the poem are kept, line for line
  • The Latin, Greek and Italian quotations are left as Eliot wrote them
  • Chapters and the table of contents still work in e-readers

What goes wrong with text-only translation

Why text-only EPUB translation does not preserve the book structure

An EPUB contains more than chapter text. It also contains the reading order, table of contents, images, notes, and links.

Separate chapter files must be rebuilt as an EPUB

Translating chapters one by one leaves you to put every file back into the correct reading order.

Text-only tools do not preserve the table of contents

A list of translated chapters does not include the nested links used to move through the ebook.

Footnotes and links must stay connected

Removing text from the EPUB can break links between footnotes, endnotes, and chapters.

What you get back

Translate EPUB files while preserving chapters, navigation, images, and notes

The output is a translated EPUB. It keeps the chapter order, table of contents, reflowable layout, images, notes, and links.

Pride and PrejudiceChapter 1

Chapter 1

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.1

However little known the feelings or views of such a man may be on his first entering a neighbourhood, this truth is so well fixed in the minds of the surrounding families, that he is considered the rightful property of some one or other of their daughters.

Capítulo 1

Es una verdad universalmente reconocida que un hombre soltero, poseedor de una gran fortuna, necesita una esposa.1

Por poco que se conozcan los sentimientos u opiniones de un hombre así cuando llega por primera vez a un vecindario, esta verdad está tan arraigada en la mente de las familias de los alrededores que lo consideran propiedad legítima de alguna de sus hijas.

Chapters and table of contents are preserved

The translated EPUB keeps its chapter order and nested table of contents.

Footnotes, endnotes, and internal links are preserved

Each note and chapter link stays tied to the correct place in the translated ebook.

Images and image text are translated in place

Images stay in the EPUB. Captions, alt text, titles, and words inside supported raster images are translated.

Real output from our translation engine, from idioms and names to scanned pages and embedded fonts.

Meaning, not word for word

Text is translated in passages, so idioms read the way a person would write them.

Names stay the same

Character, place and product names are kept as written from the first chapter to the last. Real output from Pride and Prejudice:

Mr. Bennet→M. Bennet
Netherfield Park→Netherfield Park
Mrs. Long→Mme Long

“My dear Mr. Bennet,” said his lady to him one day, “have you heard that Netherfield Park is let at last?”

« Mon cher M. Bennet, lui dit un jour son épouse, avez-vous appris que Netherfield Park est enfin loué ? »

titles localized, names kept

The layout stays put

Headings, columns, figures and page breaks keep their place. You get a translated file, not a text dump.

EPUB Translation FAQ

Does EPUB translation preserve chapters and the table of contents?

Yes. The translated EPUB keeps the chapter order, headings, and navigation links. The table of contents stays connected to the same chapters. Review unusual or deeply nested navigation before publishing.

What happens to footnotes, endnotes, and internal links?

They stay separate and linked to the right place in the EPUB. Review the file before publishing if the book has a very complex table of contents.

Are images and image text translated in an EPUB?

Yes. The image files stay in the ebook. Captions, alt text, and image titles stored as EPUB text are translated, and supported raster images are checked with OCR so words inside them can be translated in place. Review small, stylized, or low-contrast image text before publishing.

Can you translate an EPUB with DRM?

No. PageTranslate only accepts DRM-free EPUB files that you have the right to edit. It does not remove store copy protection.

Can I read the translated EPUB on Kindle and other ebook readers?

The output is a standard EPUB that works with EPUB reader apps. Amazon currently accepts EPUB through Send to Kindle and for Kindle publishing, but Amazon converts the file for Kindle. PageTranslate does not create MOBI or KFX files. Test the result in the reader you plan to use.

Will the EPUB keep its CSS, fonts, and reflowable layout?

The translated file keeps the original stylesheets, font files, and reflowable structure. A custom font may not contain the characters needed for the new language, so the reader may replace it or show missing characters. Check the final file on your target devices.

Can I download a bilingual EPUB with both languages?

No. The current output replaces the source text with the translated text. Keep the original EPUB if you need to compare both versions. Side-by-side and alternating-language EPUB layouts are not available.

How large can an EPUB be?

You can upload an EPUB up to 100 MB. Long books are accepted within that limit. If the book contains supported images, OCR runs in the background before the exact word count and price appear.

Which languages can I translate an EPUB into?

You can choose from more than 50 target languages, including Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Arabic. The language selector shows the current list before you start the translation.

Should I review an AI-translated EPUB before publishing it?

Yes. Review names, invented terms, dialogue, technical language, and passages where tone matters. Also open the EPUB in your intended reader to check navigation, fonts, and line breaks before distribution.

Can I test a short section before translating the whole book?

Yes. A verified free account includes 3,000 starter words. Use them to test a short part before you pay for the whole book.

Who owns the translated EPUB, and can I publish it?

You keep ownership of your source file and translated output. PageTranslate does not claim rights to either file. You are responsible for having permission to translate, distribute, or sell the original work.

How is my uploaded EPUB protected?

Uploads are encrypted while they move and while they are stored. Access is restricted through application and administrative controls. Review the Privacy and Security pages before uploading private files.

How is an EPUB translation priced?

EPUBs do not have fixed pages. The price is based on word count in 1,000-word blocks, and you see the full quote before payment.
