Why this comes up now
In January 2021 the CFPB encouraged financial institutions to better serve consumers with limited English proficiency, and set out principles for doing it. Read the CFPB statement.

Which kind of translation software fits your firm?
Financial services firms usually weigh four options. Each one wins somewhere, so match the tool to the job in front of you.
| Criterion | Free web translator | Localization platform (TMS) | Translation agency | PageTranslate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Whole documents back in the same format | Partly: Some file types, with size limits | Yes: Yes, built for ongoing projects | Yes: Yes | Yes: Yes: PDF, Word, EPUB and scans |
| Price before you start | Yes: Free, with limits | Partly: Usually an annual contract | Partly: Per-word quote | Yes: Exact price after upload |
| Time to first translation | Yes: Minutes | No: Usually a sales process and setup | Partly: A quote, then turnaround from 24 hours | Yes: Minutes, no procurement |
| Human translator | No: No | Partly: Optional, through vendors | Yes: Yes | No: No: your bilingual reviewer checks it |
| Terminology and memory | No: No | Yes: Yes | Partly: Usually | No: No |
| Best for | A sentence or a short page | Apps, websites and constant updates in many languages | Certified or published translations | One-off customer documents your team reviews |
If you translate an app or website every week, a localization platform is the better buy. If you need one disclosure or report in another language this week, a document translation tool gets it done without a contract.

Questions your security team will ask
Straight answers, including the ones that might rule us out. The details are on our security page and in the privacy policy.
- Is data encrypted?
- Yes. Files travel over TLS 1.2 or later and are stored with AES-256 encryption.
- Who can access uploaded files?
- Access is restricted, and administrative actions are logged.
- Who owns the translation?
- You do. You keep ownership of the file you upload and the translation you download.
- Which third parties process documents?
- AI translation providers and cloud infrastructure. Ask [email protected] for the current subprocessor list.
- Can we delete our data?
- Yes. If you use an account, deleting it in settings permanently deletes your uploads and translations.
- Is there an API?
- Yes. Create an API key in your account, then upload, translate and download over REST. See the API docs.
- Is there company SSO or translation memory?
- Not today. There is no SAML single sign-on, and each document is translated on its own.
Proof, with the flaws left in
A fee schedule in Chinese, with a reviewer's notes
We translated a checking account fee schedule from English to Chinese and checked it the way your reviewer would. The same approach works for statements and annual reports, a scanned statement, or a Word disclosure you want to keep editing.

Amounts match
Every fee, limit and date matches the source: $12.00, $29.00 per item, up to 3 per day, January 1, 2026.
Two currency styles
Amounts appear two ways: $29.00 in the table, 2.00美元 a few lines down. Pick one style.
The bank's name changed
It was translated word for word: Larkspur Community Bank became 飞燕草社区银行. Give your reviewer a list of names to keep in English.
No procurement needed
Run a pilot this afternoon
Create a free account and verify your email to get 3,000 free words. That covers a short fee schedule or disclosure, so your first test can cost nothing.

Before you upload
Questions from financial services firms
Is this a certified translation?
No. It is an AI translation for your bilingual staff and compliance team to review. If a regulator, court or counterparty asks for a certified translation, order one from a certified translator.
Does it work for smaller financial services firms?
Yes. There is no contract and no seat minimum. You pay per document, and you see the exact price after upload, before you pay.
Will amounts change in the translation?
No values are recalculated or converted. The style can change with the language, such as $2.00 becoming 2.00美元, so have your reviewer check currency and number formats.
Can we translate documents that contain customer data?
Files are encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is restricted. Where you can, translate the blank template and fill it in afterward. With an account, deleting it in settings permanently deletes your uploads and translations.
Which languages can our customers get?
You can translate into 70 languages, including Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and Arabic. Scanned documents are read reliably only in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.
How much does it cost?
You pay per 1,000 words, with the exact price shown after upload and before you pay. A verified free account includes 3,000 words, enough to pilot one short document.
